Edinburgh Shopping
Edinburgh is not only a city of history and beauty, but also a great place for some retail therapy. Edinburgh's shops are generally open from 09:00 until 18:00, with late night opening (until 20:00 or 21:00) on a Thursday and shorter hours on a Sunday. Some smaller shops may take a half day on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

Glassmarket: if you're looking for antiques, arts and crafts, book and other speciality shops, you'll find a good range in and around Glassmarket.
Jenners (on Princes Street, below): the oldest independent department store in the world. It has been at the heart of Scotland's thriving capital city since 1838. Jenners has gained a reputation for providing the finest contemporary merchandise with more traditional, first-class customer service, and is described as the 'Harrod's of the North'.
Princes Street (or high street) and the surrounding streets: this is the main shopping street in edinburgh is Princes Street. Here you’ll find all the usual high street stores, a shopping mall and the larger department stores of Frasers, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer and Jenners.
Rose Street and George Street: both of which run parallel to Princess Street, have more upmarket shops.
The Royal Mile: has plenty of gift shops, but amongst the traditional and garish souvenirs, you will find good quality Scottish products, specialties and eccentricities. Whether it's an authentic bottle of Scotch Whisky or even your very own kilt, you will find it here.
