Flybe flight emergency
30.07.09
An emergency was declared at Edinburgh Airport yesterday evening after a Flybe flight reported problems with its hydraulic system. Emergency services were called to the airport at 17:30 when the flight from Bergerac called in the alarm.
The flight, which had 50 passengers and 4 crew on board, was scheduled to land at 17:20, but had to delay landing because of the problem. It circled overhead for more than 20 minutes before landing safely, with passengers disembarking normally shortly after.
A spokesperson for the airport said that the plane was given a full safety check after landing as a precaution. It is the third Flybe flight in five days to make an emergency landing in the UK, with one plane landing at Gatwick after the cabin filled up with smoke and another landing at Exeter after a lightening strike.
