Laser incidents increase
19.11.09
Police have warned of an increase in the dangerous practice of shining lasers at planes as they come in to land at Edinburgh Airport. There have been 10 cases of the lasers, which can temporarily blind pilots, being aimed at planes in the last 8 months.
Officers are hunting those responsible for the attacks, which can temporarily blind pilots as they are coming into land. On each occasion, a powerful laser pen – which can focus a green beam of light for several miles – has been used.
