Passengers evacuated from smoking plane
18.06.09
Passengers were evacuated from a smoking plane at Edinburgh Airport yesterday. Three crew and 24 passengers rushed from the Loganair aircraft after one of its engines began smoking minutes before it was due to take-off. The flight was bound for the Isle of Man.
A spokesperson for Loganair, a Flybe franchise (some press reports suggest that it was a Flybe plane / flight - which is the same story) said: ‘The engines and electrical systems were immediately shut down as a precautionary measure, the 24 passengers and 3 crew were evacuated. We would like to offer sincere apologies to customers whose journeys have been disrupted by this incident.’
