11.12.09
Fog at Edinburgh and Glasgow Airports caused major delays to flights today. By 16:00 Prestwick Airport had handled 10 flights diverted from Edinburgh and Glasgow with more expected over the weekend. It handled diverted flights from Liverpool, Southampton, Kirkwall, Sumburgh and Stornoway amongst others.
Fog in other parts of the UK, including London and Orkney, also affected outgoing flights from Edinburgh Airport. Visibility was down to 200 metres and the temperature was below freezing. There were reports of huge queues at airline desks as passengers tried to change their flights.
