New Edinburgh Airport parking service
11.07.09
A new parking service called fastTRACK has been launched by Edinburgh Airport. A spokesman said that it will improve parking, reduce congestion on the airport road system, and tackle the problem of delays caused by passengers being dropped off and picked up at the terminal entrance - so called 'kiss and fly'.
The airport said: ‘Kiss and fly is the most environmentally damaging form of accessing the airport because it involves four car journeys [one each way to drop off, one each way to pick up] and adds to congestion on the airport's already busy roads.’
'Located on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park, one minute from the terminal, the new fastTRACK facility offers fast, convenient and covered parking for up to 150 vehicles. Dedicated entry and exit lanes have been introduced to improve access for motorists.'
Between now and August 31, the airport is offering a 25% discount for fastTRACK users. The new car park will be available at a reduced rate of £15.80 per day – equivalent to the standard short-stay rate, but with the added convenience of fastTRACK's benefits, the airport said.
