This is not the 'official' airport website (which is at www.edinburghairport.com), it's an in depth guide to Edinburgh Airport, where everything you need to know is no more than 2 clicks away. Click on any of the links on the left to find the information you need, including Edinburgh Airport Hotels and Edinburgh Airport Parking.
Edinburgh Airport serves Scotland's capital city (Edinburgh is the centre of the Scottish legal system, financial system and administration) and is popular with business and holiday travellers throughout Scotland. There are more than 40 scheduled and charter airlines flying to over 80 destinations from the hub.
Nearly half of its passengers are business travellers - a much higher proportion than at many airports. With 9.8 million passengers travelling through the airport in 2013 (up 6.3% on 2012), the airport retained the title at Scotland's biggest airport and is now the UK's fifth biggest by passenger numbers.
The airport is 12 miles (20 kms) west of central Edinburgh, which is in the east of Scotland, off the A8 main road which runs between Glasgow and Edinburgh. It has one terminal, with an arrivals and departures floor.
There is ample parking at edinburgh airport, including short term and long term car parking, plus off airport parking, which is usually cheaper. There is an on airport hotel (the Hilton), one just off airport (the Quality), plus plenty of local hotels offering an 'overnight stay with free parking' package.
Once inside the terminal you will find all of the facilities you would expect at a small international airport. There are airport lounge, currency exchange bureaus and a number of ATMs. There is a good range of eating options, excellent disabled facilities and there is also duty free shopping.
For those meeting someone at the airport it couldn't be simpler. Follow the directions on our 'directions' page and park in the short term airport parking once you reach the terminal (this is clearly signposted). Then head for the arrivals area, and check the flight status on the arrivals information boards for when you need to wait by the gate.
If want to know about airport security, the history of edinburgh airport, technical data, or you want to do a spot of plane spotting, we can help you with that too. Just click on the relevant link in the index boxes on the left.
And if you have a stop over at this airport, have a look at our edinburgh airport hotel or airport lounge pages. Or you might have a look at the local attractions page and take in some of the local sights whilst you wait for your connecting flight.
